"...rich in both text and pictures. As always, Williams captures the flavor of his subject in great detail,
while capturing the reader's interest...a must for anyone wishing to know more about our rich history."

The Murders at Convict Lake

True story of the infamous 1871 Nevada State Penitentiary break when 29 outlaws escaped and fled 250 miles from Carson City, Nevada into Mono and Inyo counties California. Along their route they killed anyone who got in their way. In a shootout at today's Convict Lake near Mammoth Lakes, California, the convicts were cornered by a posse. Two posse members were killed. The convicts escaped and were later captured; two were hanged. I have based the exciting story on newspaper accounts of the day, court and prison records. A detailed map helps the reader and traveler follow the escape route today. Action scenes are illustrated by David Comstock. 32 pages, 25 photographs and illustrations, guide map.
